HOW TO APPLY

Class of 2009 graduates from Knox County High Schools may apply to receive Knox Achieves tuition assistance.  Applicants must meet the program’s eligibility requirements.

Application Process

• Step 1:  Complete and submit Knox Achieves application
• Download application. 
  
  
• Step 2:  Have initial meeting with Knox Achieves mentor
• Mentors contact students in early January.
  
  
• Step 3:  Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online form
• FAFSA form:  www.fafsa.ed.gov/
  
  
• Step 4:  Take the American College Test (ACT)
  (note:  this test must be taken prior to April 1, 2009)
• Schedule your test:
  www.actstudent.org/regist/index.html/
• Fee waiver:  see your guidance counselor for the one-time fee waiver
  
  
• Step 5:  Complete Community College application
• Pellissippi State
• Roane State
• Walters State
  
  
• Step 6:  Register for classes

Assistance is for tuition expense only and will be for a maximum of $2,000 annually.  In the first year, Knox Achieves will fund 500 students.  Priority will be given to first generation college students.
